An old sailing ship had to have a figurehead. They added grace to the bow of the ship and were believed by the crew to fend off bad spirits and to bring good fortune. The Jenny Lind Figurehead was carved in Salem for a clipper ship named for the popular Swedish Nightingale. She finished her days along with so many others in the mud of San Francisco Bay. Molded in a hard lightweight fibrous material and hung by a simple bracket in the back. She is 33 inches tall x 14 inches wide and projects 14 inches from the wall. It is airbrushed and distressed to look like old wood. It has very realistic details. Perfect decoration for a restaurant, rec room or cottage by the lake.
